Strategic Management (STM921S) equips students with the analytical tools and conceptual frameworks necessary to understand and navigate the complexities of strategic decision-making in modern organisations. This course explores how organisations formulate, implement, and evaluate strategies to achieve sustainable competitive advantage in dynamic and often volatile environments.
Students will engage with real-world cases, strategic models, and critical thinking activities that challenge them to assess internal capabilities, interpret external forces, and align resources with long-term objectives. Topics include competitive and corporate strategy, strategic analysis, stakeholder management, globalisation, innovation, mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, and evaluating strategic performance.
By the end of the course, students will be able to critically analyse strategic issues, make informed strategic choices, and contribute meaningfully to strategic planning and execution in both private and public sector organisations.
