
The aim of this course is to examine the context of strategic human resource management (SHRM) in the organisation by developing a framework for the practice of SHRM, exploring how managers develop and implement effective and efficient human resource practices that support the strategic and business objectives of their firms.
The course focuses on everyday human resource decisions made by all managers (e.g. selection, evaluation, compensation, employment relations and termination) from a strategic perspective. Also, by addressing organisational issues considered of key interest to managers generally and HR professionals specifically; the goal is to show the impact of these issues on an organisation and the strategic role of human resource management. Therefore, a common theme will be that of how to strategically manage the human resources and develop vital people management competencies.
